"Fashion fades, Style remains"

Fashion and politics have never been two genres of life to really integrate, possibly because its seemingly a male dominated profession, and honestly how excited can we get over several dark toned suits on a bunch of middle-aged men? However since Michelle Obama created a name for herself with her elegant yet iconic way of dressing at the side of the most powerful man across the pond, we are starting to see a lot more of our own politicians spouses hit the tabloids in a not so fashionable frenzy. As the general elections begin to loom we see Cameron, Brown and the other one hit the media with force, but this yea
r it is not just the candiates themselves pounding the papers but their wives too... Question is can they really do it like Michelle? And if so, who will out dress who in out newest election battle outside of the ballot box?

And the candidates for 'best dressed politicians arm-candy are'-
-Sarah Brown

-Samantha Cameron
(Wife of Conservative leader David Cameron- Pictured right)
-Miriam Clegg
(Wife of Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg- Pictured below)

Now it's easy to seen none of these three women are going to win any outright style awards, nor gain any recognition for their wonderful abilities to create brilliant style ensembles, that however, doesn't mean they are going to hide away in the back of their pencil skirt stuffed closets!
Miriam for example, (Team Democrats, for those politically unaware) brought out something shiny for her husbands recent political convention, it was in fact a side bag- wait for it... made of aluminium ring pulls, to show she too was environmentally friendly! Unfortunately I can't say I'll be rushing out to purchase one, even though it is all for a good cause.
Miriam isn't the only political WAG to attempt to change the public, and more importantly their husband's electorate's perception of themselves. Samantha Cameron, doing an arguably better job than the rest. Her dress was also pictured on Myleene Class (what an achievement) is seemingly trying to prove that just because her husband is the leader of the universally known Toffee Tories she doesn't feel the need to dress like good old Maggie Thatcher! Instead she actually seems to be dressing her age, which is more that can be said about Mrs Brown, who seems to only own unflattering jersey dresses and dull-tones pencil skirts, which only draw attention to her aging gut!
I think it can safely be said that out three contenders have much catching up to do if any of them want match up with the effortlessly stylish Michelle Obama, but then again so does half the rest of the world! None-the-less we seem to be trying, and at that (although possibly biased) my 'best dressed politician's arm candy' goes to... [Drum roll Please...]

Samantha Cameron... Fingers crossed the national election will follow suit!
